Objective :

The overall objective of the Project is to support communities and local institutions to prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters in Thatta.

 

 

Major Activities

 

  • The project falls in disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction (DP/DRR) sector wherein majority of action consist of mobilization of both local actors (households, community institutions) and tehsil and district government. The project is being implemented through consortium partners including CHESVI and ACF funded by ECHO. CHESVI is implementing the project at Mirpurkhas District while ACF with it’s partner SRSO is implementing the project in Thatta District.
  • The project consists of two key results.
    1. Community institutions and districts Government are better prepared to cope with future disasters that threaten communities in Thatta (Sindh)
    2. Emergency life-saving and life-sustaining assistance is provided to communities in Thatta district in case of disaster/crisis through Crisis Modifier.
  • Total number of Individual beneficiaries of will be 25,554 male and female with 50% ratio. Total 10 UCs and 50 Villages in Thatta will be covered under the project intervention.
  • Identification and Selection of CRPs in target communities to be trained as trainers.
  • Training modules development for CBDRM and Climate change adaptation training.
  • ToT of CRPs and LSO representatives on CBDRM.
  • ToT on Climate change adaptation and first aid.
  • Cascade training by CRPs at village/sub village level.
  • Distribution of Emergency Tool Kits to IERTs at village level.
  • Support to LSO for conducting community/school mock drills for emergency preparedness in line with VDRR plans.
  • Workshops on Revision of District DRM plan at district level.
  • Community Orientation on Early Warning Mechanisms and exercise of communication mechanisms under EWS.
  • Installation/ rehab of Early Warning Colored Poles at Water Infrastructure.
  • Communication Directory Printing for LSOs as part of EWS communication plan in DDRR-P.
  • Devel.pment of School Safety committees.
  • Sessions on SBDRM and first aid in schools,
  • Development of School Safety plans.
  • School Rehab for resilience building.
  • Provision of School Kits.
  • TOT of Master Trainer (teachers) on MHPSS.
  • Cascade training sessions of teachers by Master Trainers.
  • 360 Degree media Campaign.
  • Plantation drive at village level in pre-identified place as per IHVA .
