The recent outbreak of Noval Coronavirus has caused massive catastrophe in 192+ countries across the world, starting from China it is now spread to Italy, US, UK, Iran etc. including Pakistan. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared Emergency throughout the world and followed by emergency declaration in Pakistan by the government. In this context, a National Plan is being enforced immediately to cater Pandemic COVID-19. A Lockdown is varying to different degrees in all 4 provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK. Sindh has been the first one to impose lockdown across the province, which is being strictly implemented. Moreover, Sukkur has been the focal point of the pandemic within the province.
In view of the current situation, the fear and possibility of spreading of COVID-19, the normal life has been totally disrupted; schools are closed till 31st May, ban on intercity & intra-city travels, religious congregations / large events / gatherings is totally banned. The complete lockdown is to ensure all necessary precautionary measures to prevent the spread of pandemic. Adhering to the Provincial Government instructions, SRSO has limited / minimized the activities and movement in the field preventing from moving ahead with activities as planned.
Consequently, considering the situation, the SRSO’s Board immediately called an Extraordinary Meeting on 24th March 2020, via Tele Conference to discuss the risks and devise mitigation strategy, wherein the Board decided that SRSO should contribute to extend its support the poor of Sindh through the organized communities in its target districts, and in this regard allocated substantial budget for the support in this testing times without jeopardizing the safety of the employees, organized communities and general public, thus giving a helping hand to Government of Sindh.
The Sindh Rural Support Organization is working with the local governments to help rural Communities of the Sindh Province , deploying resources to community-based organizations that are supporting local workers and families most facing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. SRSO has undertake numerous activities in order to raise awareness against COVID19, in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus in the rural communities.
