Social Mobilization is the process to encourage men and women to organize and form group, consisting of 15-25 members, known as a Community Organization (CO). CO is an important forum for capitalizing the people’s potential to take an active role in the management of development activities. A mobilized community is one that is able to identify its needs and find the resources necessary to meet those needs. Those resources may be their own savings or labor, or funds or information from a line Department.

Social Mobilization sector SRSO has followed these parameters and has achieved a great success and continuing to put efforts for even greater success. SM Sector believes that success and sustainability of the Programme depends entirely on quality of social mobilization to create a proactive community highly sensitized to their problems and capable of addressing them.

The SM Sector during the reporting period visited a number of villages and motivated the community to form Cos.

We make utmost efforts to identify an activist who has commitment and enthusiasm to perform tasks for collective good and provide an active link between SRSO and the Community. Activist is given appropriate training for building his/her capacity aimed at assisting in accelerating the pace of social mobilization and CO formation. Equal importance is attached to identify female activists to ensure social mobilization of women in the target area.

Some of the statistics reflecting social mobilization efforts are given below in the chart.
