About SRSO

Established in 2003, the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) is the major Rural Support Programme in Northern Sindh. It is a not-for-profit organization registered under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. SRSO is present in 10 districts, namely Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Naushero Feroz, Sh.Banazirabad, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Kashmore-Kandhkot, and Qambar-Shadadkot . The mandate of SRSO is to alleviate poverty by harnessing the people’s potential and to undertake development activities in Sindh.

From bedding to jewellery and shoes , a variety of indigenous handicrafts made by Rural women artisans , trained by the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) will be showcased.Sartyoon Sang's work revolves around the support of women artisans from different remote villages of Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Larkana,Naushehroferoz,QamberShahdadkot, Khairpur and Sukkur who tirelessly work to preserve our traditional handicrafts while trying to support their families from the work they do.

"SARTYOON SANG CRAFTS ENTERPRISE" Sales Outlet opened for the public on 11-11-2016, at SRSO Complex ,Near Taj Petrol Pump Main Shikarpur Road Sukkur.
The Sales Outlet was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer of Sindh Rural Support organization Mr. Muhammad Dittal kalhoro. All the staff and management of the SRSO were present during the inauguration. This Sales outlet is a social enterprise, run by SRSO and established for the promotion of indigenous Handicrafts of Sindh made by Rural artisans.

Sartyoon Sang's work revolves around the support of women artisans from different remote villages of Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Larkana,Naushehroferoz,QamberShahdadkot, Khairpur and Sukkur who tirelessly work to preserve our traditional handicrafts while trying to support their families from the work they do. European Union funded 6-year Sindh Union Council and Community Economic Strengthening Support (SUCCESS) Programme launched in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts of Sindh Province, in this connection a launching cermony held at Shaheed Zuilfqar Ali Bhutto Intitute of Science and Technology (SZBIST) Larkana on 29 march 2016.
The program is launched by the European Union (EU) delegation to Pakistan, the Government of Sindh and the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).
The launch ceremony was attended, among others, by Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan, Chairman RSPN, Commissioner of Larkana Division Mr. Akbar Laghari, MPA Muhammad Ali Bhutto, SRSO board member Mr. Fazalullah Qureshi, Mr. Nazar Memon, Mr. Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro( CEO of SRSO), local notables, political leaders, representatives of various organisations and a large number of local women from rural areas of Larkana.Also present at the occasion were district administration officials.
SRSO's CEO Mr. Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro welcomed the guests and shed llight on the overall objectives of the EU funded SUCCESS programme.He said that SUCCESS programme would keep its focus on fostering sustainable and financially viable network of community institutions and to contribute to poverty reduction, and also to link the community institutions with the government service delivery departments. He said that it was very encouraging that the programme are being involved and be led by the women.
Women community leaders from Shikarpur, Kashmore-Kandhkot and Jacobabad shared their inspirational personal stories of successfully overcoming poverty by becoming socially organized as part of the Union Council Based Poverty Reduction Programme (UCBPRP) a join initiative of the Sindh government and SRSO, launched in 2009.
Their stories were full of conviction, struggle, passion, hope and a desire to change the economic condition of their households. The audience loved the energetic and lively talks by the four female community members.
Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan, in his insightful speech, shed light on the history of the UCBPRP initiative. He appreciated the government of Sindh and the European Union for constantly supporting the rural development programmes.He said that the RSPs are effective in reducing poverty because, unlike other organisations, they have roots in the households and, thus, can easily access each household in the programme areas.
Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan further said that the three tier of Community Organisations, Village Organisation and Local Support Organisation, form the third pillar - the social pillar, of the society, to complement and supplement the political and administrative pillars.
Concluding the launch ceremony, Mr. Akbar Laghari, Commissioner of Larkana Division, in an engaging speech, said that freedom to work, opportunities, awareness, and education are vital for changing the statue of women in the society.

Mr. Jamal Shoro, Programme Manager SUCCESS-SRSO made a detailed presentation about the programme objectives and progress made so far.
The session was also addressed by MPA Mr. Muhammad Ali Bhutto and some other political and social leaders.


Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan, Chairman RSPN/SRSO, conducted the first dialogue with the community in Jumo Shaikh village of Union Council Mahar Wada, Larkana, on 29 march 2016 as part of the Sindh Union Council and Community Economic Strengthening Support (SUCCESS) Programme's launching ceremony.
During the ‘first dialogue', organised by Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan, in a lively and engaging manner, shared insights from his decades of experience of working with rural communities across the country, and abroad, and helping them in overcoming poverty through collective efforts. He also explained the processes, intended outcomes and objectives of the community driven development approach.He urged the villagers to organise themselves by forming community organisations, and starting saving money, identifying issues, discussing the issues and collectively coming up with solutions.
Mr. Khan emphasized on the locals to organize themselves, harness and enhance their skills and potentials to be able to improve their lives and livelihoods, to be able to break out of the poverty line. He said that decades of experience has proven that organized communities are relatively more successfull in overcoming poverty.
The first dialogue was also addressed by SRSO board member Mr. Faizullah Qureshi, who urged the locals to positively contribute towards collective growth and development.
SRSO is implementing the SUCCESS programme in Larkana and Kambar Shahdadkot districts of the Sindh province.The European Union funded programme is also being implemented in six other districts - Tando Muhammad Khan, Sujawal, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Dadu and Jamshoro, by TRDP and NRSP.

  Under the project of establishing Non Formal Education centers in a Partnership with Sindh Reading program funded by USAID,Chief of Party(CoP) of NFE program Mr. Christopher visited NFE Centeres Established by SRSO in Jacobabad on 8 April and Kashmore -Kadhkot on 9 April 2016 and distributed NFE learners Kit among Students.The project aims to enroll & educate out-of-school children ages of 10-15 years in Non Formal Education centers. In Jacobabad he visited Abad 1 and abad 2 centers of village Abad of UC Garhi Chand and in Kashmore at Kandhkot community center Karampur, village Dua Chok of UC Karampur.He was accompanied by Ms. Moona Communication Head , Director Non formal education M.Alam Thai, DDO A.Ghaffar Shah and Miss Attia Tabasum SRP Advisor (NFE) and SRSO management.

  5 free Eye Camps were organized on 21, 24, 25, 29 and 31 March 2016 in Rural Health Centers of Chak, Rahimabad, Garhi Budhal, Sultan Kot and Dakhan of district Shikarpur repectively , by Sindh Rural Support Organisation in collaboration with HelpAge International ,Sightsavers and Al Shifa Eye Trust Hospital Sukkur. 161 patients were selected for cataract surgery at Al Shifa Hospital Sukkur and 824 patients have been diagnosed, treated and provided with medication and 421 with spectacles.
Patients who were diagnosed of cataract were transported to Sukkur by a special bus, provided by Al Shifa Eye Trust Hospital and Operated upon free of cost by qualified surgeons.

  Dr. Naigisa, Chief Field Officer (CFO), UNICEF, visited two social fund schemes of Union Council Khanpur in district Khairpur Sindh on 29 March 2016 ,under UNICEF funded Promoting Child Rights in Cotton Farming Areas of Sindh project. She was accompanied by Mr. Khalil Ahmed Tetlay, Acting Chief Executive Officer RSPN, Mr. Riaz Ahmad Wassan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-II) Khairpur, Ms. Zahida Manzoor, Provincial coordinator IKEA UNICEF, Ms. Shahla, Education Coordinator UNICEF, Dr. Muzaffar Saeed, Project Manager RSPN, Deputy Director Social Welfare office Mr. Qamar raza, and officials of Sindh Rural Support Organisation. She inaugurated two schemes of Community Safe Play Area in village Chuttal Changer and Community Computer Lab in village Shah Bhangio.
The purpose of these schemes is to ensure that the children of vulnerable communities get positive and safe environment for learning and playing.


Sindh Rural Support Organization participated in a Mega Event “Farmer’s Festival and National Conference on Agriculture and Livestock” on March 27, 2016 .The event was organised by Sindh Agriculture University of Tando Jam at Khairpur College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Khairpur and inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah .A large number of progressive farmers, producers, vegetable and fruit processors, small Farmers Groups, agri-entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs, agriculture experts, policy makers, academia, researchers and extension personnel, public private organizations, exporters/ importers in agribusiness and livestock, and agri-finance institutions participated and provided their valuable input for the improvement of agriculture and livestock sector of the province.
The chief minister visited stalls which were set up at the farmers festival and national conference on agriculture and livestock. He appreciated the efforts of the university's vice chancellor for organising the festival to impart knowledge about new technology in agro business sector.
Sartyoon Sang indigenous products was on display at the event to attract people and sensitized the government functionaries.The delegates, including women and children, visited the stall of Sartyoon Sang (social enterprise of SRSO)and enjoyed by interaction with artisans.
The Farmers’ Festival was intended to provide an opportunity for interactive learning environment, mutual exchange of skills and techniques, sharing of innovative ideas, dissemination and exchange of knowledge, and development of strong linkages to promote agriculture and livestock development. And the National Conference provided a platform to all those engaged in agricultural and rural development for sharing their vision and experience in development of agriculture and livestock sector for sustainable livelihood.

  SRSO is implementing a Project of establishing Non Formal Education centers in a Partnership with Sindh Reading program funded by USAID. The project aims to enroll & educate out-of-school children ages of 10-15 years in Non Formal Education centers. A total of 67 Non Formal Education centers have been opened (34 centers in Kashmore and 33 centers in Jacobabad) and 2,000 out-of-school children are enrolled in the month of March 2016.Teachers will be trained in the use of SRP provided NFE material.
Since the government school did not have an additional teacher for these children, the NFE teacher who are trained by SRSO will continue to teach and these children will enroll in classes appropriate for their age and grade level in the new school year.
SRSO is motivating people to encourage their children to pursue education. This process of raising awareness and community involvement will apply to all stages of the project, from the identification of children to successfully enrolling them in the Education Centers.
  Female activists from Community organizations (CO), village organizations (VO) and Local Support Organizations (LSO) celebrated International Women’s Day in District Kashmore – kandhkot with coordination of Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) on 10 March 2016. Dr. Hafeez Ahmed Siyal Deputy Commissioner Kashmore-KandhKot. was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
103 females representative from 32 villages and 12 union councils, Government officials from different departments i.e; Education, District Information unit, Chairman Zakat and Ushar, forest, welfare department with stakeholders of INGO/NGO Acted, CSSP, GSF, HANDS, Kainat, Bankers , Media Groups and SRSO management cordially participated in the event to encourage community organizations in lighten of drastic efforts taken toward the development.Community Activists Ms. Meerzadi(Chairperson LSO Bukhari),Ms. Aisha( LSO- Roshni), Ms.Khursheed Khatoon (LSO-Bukhari) and Ms. Shaneela (LSO-Mehran) addressed and highlighted the importance of women in society and role of women in development. 
Chief Guest Dr. Hafeez Ahmed Siyal Deputy Commissioner Kashmore-KandhKot addressed on the occasion and appreciated the endeavors of SRSO for poor and destitute community and expecting in future to keep such spirit for rural communities of Sindh.He said we all need to be very practical in understanding the occurring issues of women at ground level and should participate in way of solving it that would bring changes.
  Sartyoon Sang SRSO's social enterprise hosted a three-day crafts festival "Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition 2016" displaying work of around 1,200 women artisans, from the northern districts of Sindh, at "The Ocean Mall Clifton Karachi " from 05 - 07 February 2016. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Nafeesa Shah.The Festival showcased wide mixture of exquisite handicrafts made by women of rural Sindh including home textiles, basketry, jewellery, dresses, dupattas and shawls embellished with traditional embroidery and cutwork.Sartyoon Sang Craft Festival was being organised by SRSO for the third year in consecutive with the motive to support ethical fashion and to promote crafts of some of the most marginalised women in the province.This is purely an effort to develop market opportunities for rural women especially those from extremely remote villages of northern Sindh, and all the profit being earned from these exhibitions is transferred to these artisans.
These series of “Sartyoon Sang” Crafts Exhibitions have gone so successful and attracted a large number of visitors and buyers / shoppers of the city. These were only made possible with the generous support of SRSO’s partners, donors and different stake-holders. These events were aimed to boost the local crafts and begin a sturdy process for connecting our Business Development Groups (BDGs) and artisans to high end market of Karachi.

  To promote and spread awareness about Human Rights A community conference was organized by Village Organization(VO) Jangu Shar and Gender and Development Sector of Sindh Rural Support Organization at UC Karan (LSO SOBH) Social Mobilization Unit Shikarpur on 18 December 2015.
Community conference was attended by 175 women from COs, VOs, LSO and LSO Network (Khushaal & Umeed) . human rights advocates, media practitioners, gender advocates and a cross section of the general public.
Ms. Shugufta (Incharge Women Right Police Department), Mr. Waheed Shujrah (Director Social Welfare Department), Mr. Agha Waheed Pathan (Incharge Child Right Unit Shikarpur), Ms. Rukhsana Riaz (Manager G&D SRSO), Dr. Ghulam Rasool (Regional Manager-III SRSO) and women activists were the key speakers on the occasion.
They said that all human beings are born free and are equal in dignity and rights. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, property, birth or other status. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
  To use the power of education to change the lives of children that are underprivileged or living in poverty, SRSO Organized a Community Conference on the Theme of "EDUCATION " on 30 November 2015 at Government Cluster Secondary School Bahadur Khan Khoso, UC Gulwali Taluka Tangwani, District Kashmore-kandhkot More than 150 Women Leaders of Local Support Organizations(LSOs) and Women Village Organizations(VOs) Participated in the conference. .Officials from Education department, Deputy District Officer, Taluka Officer Tangwani ,Taluka Officer Kandhkot ,SPEs and Principal GHS Ghouspur, Representatives of INGOs/NGOs and Teachers along with CEO SRSO, Regional Manager ,DM Jacobabad participated in discussion on the importance of Education especially enhancement of Girls enrollment in schools . Through this conference participants highlighted the importance of transforming social interactions between members in the community through education and to educate children of current & coming generations for building a safer & secure society for all of us. Education is the key to economic empowerment and Equal education boosts economic growth for women and girls -       
  From November 24 to 26, 2015 Sindh Rural Support Organization(SRSO) and Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP) organized a workshop on "Climate Change Adaptation" with the financial and technical support of RSPN and ICIMOD Nepal. The workshop was held at SRSO complex Sukkur. The objective of this workshop was to deliver the message of Climate Change Adaptation to grass-root level. Officials of local NGOs, LSOs of neighbouring districts and relevant government departments attended the workshop. The participants of this training are expected to adopt these learnings and materials provided in the training within their own organizations and create awareness among other line department and communities at large. Ultimate goal of this initiative is to accelerate climate friendly planning and implementation of related programmes.       
  The second conference on Community Driven Development (CDD) was organized at SRSO complex Sukkur on 02 October 2015 with the financial support of European Union Delegation in Pakistan. This event highlighted the work of RSPs and engagement of community members in rural areas of Pakistan. The objective of the conference was to facilitate a dialogue among different stakeholders including policy makers, donors, programme practitioners and researchers working on CDD programmes in Pakistan, identify successful approaches and challenges faced to mainstream and scale up CDD in Pakistan and beyond, increase the visibility of the RSPs work on CDD in Pakistan, explore lessons/knowledge and exchange with stakeholders, and proposals and recommendations on how RSPs can have a better impact through CDD .Community members, elected local bodies, civil society, media, government line departments and other stakeholders were the part of this successful conference. The level of engagement and participation of these stakeholders were commendable. They appreciated RSP's work on CDD and proposed different ideas to have a better impact in future.      
  Ms. Marvi Memon Member National Assembly(MNA) and Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) spent Eid ul Azha with Organized Poor Rural women of Northern Sindh on 26 September 2015.This event was organized by Sindh Rural Support Organization(SRSO).Ms. Memon said that she was happy to be among the women belonging to Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore-Kandhkot and other villages of Sindh. Purpose of her visit to rural Sindh was to gain first-hand knowledge about the problems faced by people here, so that she can take steps to solve them.The director BISP Mr. Zulfiqar Abro, representatives from various banks,SRSO Management and hundreds of women from Sukkur , Shikarpur , Khairpur, Kashmore and Jacobabad were present in the event.
Ms. Marvi Memon appreciated the work of the SRSO to eliminate poverty in northern Sindh.During her visit, Ms. Memon also Visited SRSO complex and a Artisan's Gallery.

  SRSO under Health Communication Component of USAID’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program organized World Population Day in target districts of Sindh during the Population Week from Aug 31 - Sept 04, 2015.The celebration of international days as community mobilization and advocacy events is an important component in the project because it provides an opportunity to promote the positive behaviors for Family Planning and Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health services at the community level. In this regard, the SRSO in collaboration with RSPN ,Population Welfare Department and National Program for Family Planning and Primary Health Care celebrated the World Population Day in partnership with USAID’s MCH partners, Department of Health, PPHI Sindh and other national and international organizations.      
  Sartyoon Sang Crafts Enterprise participated in 7th International khairpur dates Exhibition from 22nd & 23rd August 2015 organized at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Open Air Theater Khairpur and won an award of Best Stall.
Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the two-day Date Palm Festival-2015 while his daughter MNA Ms. Nafessa Shah was the chief guest on the occasion..
The chief minister visited the stalls set up at the exhibition at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto open-air theatre.
The exhibition was jointly organized by District Administration Khairpur, the Date Palm Research Institute (DPRI) and the Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu).

SRSO has organized and celebrated 69 Independence day of Pakistan on 14th August 2015 at three Government Secondary Cluster Schools located at villages Garhi Sahib khan, Sohrab khan Pahore and Bahadur khan Khoso. These schools are managed by SRSO. District Education officer Kashmore @ Kandhkot Mr. Abdul Ghaffar , Notebale person Mr. Muhammad khan Khoso (SISTECH Director) were the chief guest and CEO SRSO Mr. MD kalhoro, Ms. Atiya Tabassum Advisor Sindh Reading Program(USAID), district management of SRSO Shikarpur and Kandhkot region , representatives of district Education department, Community Leaders from COs, VOs and LSOs, Media persons and Teachers , students and their parents also participated in this event with great national zeal .
Students from junior and senior sections delivered speeches commemorating the Independence Day and expressed their emotions for country.
A younger Student added ambience to the celebration by singing a patriotic song.
A Quiz competition was conducted in order to increase the student's general knowledge. Tableaus were also performed on the occasion by students and received applaud from audience.
The students were given prizes as the source of motivation and for brilliant performances they did in the ceremony.

  Sindh Rural Support Programme and Rural Support Programmes Network supported four LSOs of Beriri, Bago-Dho, Lohi & Bhetoor UCs, to celebrate World Day against Child Labor in district Ghotki. The activities were carried out under ’Social Protection Initiatives under Promoting Child Rights in Cotton Farming areas of Sindh’ around the theme “NO to Child Labor-YES to Quality Education”. This event was participated by the civil society and government officials that include Social Welfare Department, Education Department, World Wild Life Fund-WWF, Indus Farmers Workers Association-IFWA (Grow better cotton initiative), local Land Owners, LSO representatives, students, men and women from the adjoining villages.

 On 30th June 2015 , with financial support of RSPN , 30 cross breed heifers were distributed in ultra and vulnerable poor women of village Abdul Rehman Sarki of district Jacobabad. Dr. Sohrab Khan Sarki (MNA) was the chief guest.
These heifers have been submitted to the insurance for the period of one year with medical support.
Prior to this distribution, an extensive training on livestock management specifically on cross breed heifers was also conducted for these 30 women .


Ms. Angela Kearney, country representative of UNICEF with her team from UNICEF, Mr. Mohammad Tahir Watoo, DC Ghotki, Dr. Nargiz( Unicef chief field officer), Ms. Zahida Manzoor(Unicef child protection officer), along with other officials from various line departments visited three villages of UC Beriri on 29 June 2015 and inaugurated various schemes including safe play area, computer lab and library in district Ghotki. The project is focused to promote child rights in cotton farming areas of Sindh and being implemented by Sindh Rural Support Organization and Rural Support Programmes Network with the support of IKEA/UNICEF.
Visitors notably praised the indispensable role of rural women in these grass root level interventions.


A delegation from The Brook –UK visited Program Intervention area being carried out by Equine Welfare Project of Brook Pakistan in partnership with SRSO on 09 June 2015 in district Sukkur. The delegation interacted with communities and discussed various activities carried out with saddlers and  equine owners. Implementation methodology and effectiveness of the interventions in the field and community feedback was monitored.

  Sartyoon Sang SRSO's social enterprise has organized "Sartyoon Sang Crafts Festival 2015" at "Sindh Museum Hyderabad" from 5 to 7 June 2015. The Festival showcased wide mixture of exquisite handicrafts made by women of rural Sindh including home textiles, basketry, jewellery, dresses, dupattas and shawls embellished with traditional embroidery and cutwork.The festival aims to popularise their work and provide a steady source of income to the artisans.Sartyoon Sang Team extends a very hearty vote of thanks to all visitors and their families for sparing their valuable time at this festival.   A Sehat Mela” was organized by jointly Rural Support Programme Network (RSPN) and Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in collaboration with the National Program for Family Planning and Primary Health Care (NPFP&PHC) under the USAID’s current flagship Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Health Communication Component in the connection of World Helath Day at Shaheed Nazeer Abbasi Community hall, Union Council (UC) Loung Bhatti taluka Rohri Dist. Sukkur here on Tuesday 7th of April 2015. The theme for World Health Day 2015 was Food Safety - a theme of high relevance to all people on the planet. Unsafe food is linked to the deaths of an estimated 2.2 million people annually – including many children and women of reproductive age. 
From this Platform communities was informed about the importance of food safety especially during pregnancy and lactation period and children less than five years of age to reduce the MMR and IMR due to malnutrition. It was an opportunity for community to raise their voices related to health issues
Organizations such as MCHIP, JSI, Mercy Corps,Jhpiego, District Department of Health, Population Welfare Department, Marie Stopes Society, Save The Children, People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative, HANDS, and many other local organizations participated in the event .
The main activities of the event included skits by community volunteers on matters concerning mother and child health such as ante-natal care, birth preparedness, post-natal maternal and child care, birth spacing, and interactive discussions on maternal, neonatal, and child health. During the Health Mela 176 people were vaccinated with the hepatitis B, C and TT vaccines free of cost with the support of district health department and PPHI Sukkur. Moreover, hand-washing and healthy baby competitions were organized and prizes were distributed among the winners. Stalls were set-up by MCHIP, Population Welfare Department, Marie Stopes Society, People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative, HANDS, and other organizations.
At the end of the event, a Joint Signatory Campaign was held where participants - government officials, NGOs’ representatives, civil society’s members, media persons, and community members – signed on a pledge stating that they will ensure better maternal and child health services in their capacity and will promote healthy maternal and child practices.

Deputy Commissioner shown his keen interest in community cluster school paradigm he appreciated the efforts of SRSO in order to improve the quality of education which play the pivotal role in development of society.
After briefing worthy Deputy Commissioner visited different classes and interacted with teachers and students. He was completely surprised to see the Information Technology lab.Mr. Hadi Bux was very happy to see such a manageable School by SRSO in outreach of Shikarpur district and these types of experiences are really model schools for government.  
  SRSO Gender and Development Sector celebrated "International Women's Day" at Naushehroferoz on 18 March 2015 with an aim to highlight the role of women in society and expressed solidarity with rural women.       

Tree Plantation Campaign 2015
The community that plants together, grows together!
Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) with support of Forest Department (Government of Sindh) initiated the campaign of tree plantation at village Muhammad Ibrahim Soomro union council Rustam of taulka Lakhi Ghulam Shah District Shikarpur on March 11, 2015. Local support organizations (LSOs) Sindh Sujagh, Sindh Surhan and Awaz of UC Sehwani, Rustam and Mughrani in coordination with Natural Resource Management(NRM) SRSO planted 5800 plants of Conocarpus and Eucalyptus at different locations of UCs helped by Village Organizations.
SRSO planted 35000 plants with the help of Older people in Jacobabad & 8000 plants in Shikarpur also beside this plantation .

  A three-day free eye camp was organised in Rural Health Center Sultan Kot, in Shikarpur district, by Sindh Rural Support Organisation in collaboration with Help Age International and Prevention & Controls of Blindness Programme from 6 to 8 March 2015. 600 patients of Older People Associations (OPAs) were registered. 400 patients was diagnosed, treated and provided with medication and spectacles .220 patients were also operated upon free of cost by qualified eye surgeon. See Report

Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) organized cheque distribution ceremony of Prime Minister Interest Free Loan Scheme for poorest of poor (an initiative of Government of Pakistan) , with the technical assistance of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) on February 18, 2015 at Village Seeri union council Rustam taulka Lakhi district Shikarpur. The event was organized with support of LSO Sindh Sujagh. Ex-Defense Minister of Pakistan and MNA Mr. Ghoux Bux Khan Mahar distributed cheques of amount 658,000 Rs. among 58 beneficiaries from 04 village organizations (VO) of UC Rustam.


Sartyoon Sang SRSO's social enterprise organized "Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition 2015" at "The Ocean Mall Clifton Karachi " from 30 January to 01 February 2015.  The Festival showcased wide mixture of exquisite handicrafts made by women of rural Sindh including home textiles, basketry, jewellery, dresses, dupattas and shawls embellished with traditional embroidery and cutwork.The festival aims to popularise their work and provide a steady source of income to the artisans.

  The team of SRSO - Brook Project conducted series of awareness sessions in schools to create awareness among equine owners children and others regarding equine welfare and to acknowledge and sensitize children about the importance of animal. Children were introduced with five freedoms and eight basics management practices that can be easily managed in eradication of animals wound and death.      
  SRSO's Social Sector Services established an Adult Literacy Center on July 04, 2014 at village Ghazi Khan Chandio, Union Council Rahuti, district Qambar- Shahdadkot, with focus on increasing literacy rate, especially of women folk and in rural areas of the Sindh. Deputy Commissioner Qambar- Shahdadkot Asadullah Abro,inaugurated the Literacy Center and distributed a set of books to all female students.      
  Chairman SRSO Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan and Mr. Fazalullah Qureshi (member BoD) honoured the occasion of LSO Conference on Social Mobilization held at Head Office SRSO on 14th June 2014 . A total of 135 members participated from 89 different community institutions of Shikarpur, Kashmore- Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki.
District managment of SRSO, beneficiary Local Support Organizations(LSO) ,Village Organizations (VO) , and Community Organizations (CO) shared their experiences and achievements.


67 calves were distributed among poor women of LSO Wada Machion in a "Calves Redistribution" Ceremony which was held on April 5, 2014 at UC Wada Machion Taluka and district Khairpur under the project of UCBPRP "Enterprise Development through Livestock Farming" which was initiated two year ago on the basis of cooperative business model.

SRSO Crafts Enterprise Development Section Participated in 8th WAXNET 2014 "Women Enterpreneur Exhibition" held on 21-23 March 2014 at Expo-Center Lahore organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and has won an award of "Best Organization Stall"

From March 18-20, 2014 European Union (EU) delegation consisted of Mr. Benoist Bazin, Head of Section, Mr. Amaury Host, Mr. Arshad Rashid & Mr. Imran Ashraf, Development Advisors, visited SRSO. For the Identification of Success Program activities especially of UCBPRP project delegation visited Program area of Shikarpur and Jacobabad. EU team appreciated efforts of CO/VO/LSO members for overall community development contributions.

  On 2nd February 2014 CEO SRSO Ms. Naheed Shah distributed 1800 Gersy/fresien cross breed cows among the ultra poor families of UC Khan garh, Bhetoor and Lohi under the project "Livelihood Enhancement and Protection Program II" funded by PPAF. These cross breed cows will produce more than 12 litre milk per day and this new trend of livestock farming will contribute in economic development of beneficiaries.

  Under the PPAF funded "Livelihood Enhancement and Protection Program II" SRSO has established a "Nokri ya Karobar" center at Union Council Bhetoor, taluka Khangarh district Ghotki in village Ali Ahmed siyal on 27th January 2014.The Nokri ya Karobar center is established by Local Support Organization " Sonehri Roshni" where youngsters of UC Bhetor are registered , a separate pool of trained and untrained qualified youngsters are being registered at this center. Under NyK centers LSOs are trying to get them enrolled in any professional training institutes or get them employed in the available market.
