Major Activities;

• Provided emergency relief items to 7,500 households in Kashmore, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shahdadkot and Larkana districs of Sindh which have been most affected by floods.
• The relief items were packaged into food and non food items that cater to immediate needs of households comprising 6-7 family members.
• The food items included

• The non food items package included kitchen and hygiene items (Plates, Cooking pots, Tawa, bath soaps, detergent soaps, cotton wool, Bucket, tooth brushes, dentonic powder, comb and pot and mug).

WFP Flood Operation for Flood Affected Families

Major Activities;

• The World Food Programme is providing dry Ration to the affected 118,630 families of flood affected area as a quick relief and to ensure food security through FLAs with SRSO and SRSO-NRSP in SRSO’s operational area.
• Flood affectees of 8 districts in the camps, registered with the District Government, are being provided this relief package.
• The distribution is being made according to the approved plan from World Food Program (WFP).
• Dry Food comprising wheat (50kg-80 Kgs), cooking oil (4.5 Kgs) and high energy biscuits (2.25 Kgs) , Sugar (4 Kgs), tea (0.3 Kgs), pulses (8 Kgs), spices (1 Kg), RUSF (1.5 Kgs), and in some cases 100 Kg Rice in replacement of flour package per Household.

Major Activities;

• SRSO has provided cooked Food two times in a day to more than 50,000 flood affectees of Kashmore-Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Shikarpur districts in the IDPs camps established by each district government.
• SRSO, on behalf of the District Government, Khairpur, distributed Dry Ration and NFIs to 6,871 flood affected people. The package consisted: Sugar 1kg, Tea 100grm, Pulse1kg, Salt 1kg, Gram 1 kg, Rice 2 Kgs, Bath Soap 02, Detergent soap 02.

Major Activities;

• SRSO, as an early response to emergency, provided cooked food to the flood affected families residing in the relief camps in all the nine districts of SRSO operational area and the basic objective of the support drive was to provide relief to those who are in acute shortage of food and save their lives.
• SRSO provided support for the livestock in the flood affected zone by using its veterinary doctors fully equipped with medicines and necessary instruments. SRSO has also provided fodder of more than One Million rupees and distributed it in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Kashmore and Ghotki Districts in order to save the livestock.
• SRSO with GOAL Ireland provided support for the flood affected Families in the Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, and Larkana districts.
• Support included temporary shelter kit, Gerry Kans, winter kit, hygiene kit, hygiene sessions, pit latrines and hand pumps.

Engro- SRSO Flood Relief Partnership

Major Activities;

• SRSO has distributed the cooked food to 300 households (2500 beneficiaries) funded by Engro. These families were identified and registered with Engro foundation in Tehsil Obavro, district Ghotki.
• Engro foundation has provided dry Rashan to two thousand families (Wheat Flour 40 kg, Rice 20kgs, cooking oil 5kgs,Pulses 5kgs, sugar 5 kgs, tea and miscellaneous items).
• This project of Engro also contains non food items (NFI), such as, shelter kit, Hand Pumps, Jerry Cans, hygiene kits, Mosquitoes nets and Pit Latrines for the same households.
• This component of the Engro flood relief project includes fodder and vaccination for the 10,000 animals of the 2,000 families settled in Tehsil Ghotki relief camps.

Emergency Relief and Early Recovery For Flood Affectees Across Pakistan (KOMAK)

Major Activities;

• The British Government through the Department for International Development (DFID) has approved an emergency relief and early recovery project to meet the needs of flood affected communities in 8 districts of Sindh i.e; Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad , Shahdadkot &  Larkana.

• SRSO provided services to a total of 61,344 households and 429,408 people in flood affected operational districts of Sindh and supported for early recovery needs.
• The Komak Project has two objectives:
  1. To meet the immediate water, sanitation, hygiene and shelter needs of flood affected communities in target districts
  2. To meet the early recovery needs (water and food security) of flood affected communities in target districts.
• The project activities include provision of:
1. clean water kits,
2.  hand pumps,
3. hygiene kits,
4. pit latrines,
5. medicated mosquito nets,
6. emergency shelters,
7. animal food supplements, and
8. conducting hygiene promoting awareness sessions.

Flood Relief Project- WASH

Major Activities;

• SRSO with the support of UNICEF implemented the WASH project for flood affectees in the relief camps of Kashmore, Khairpur and Sukkur districts in Phase I and additional three districts namely Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Qamber-Shehdadkot in Phase II.
• Under this project SRSO conducted awareness in the IDPs regarding Personal Hygiene, hand wash and use of soap.
• SRSO also provided the Jerry Cans,Buckets and hygiene kits containing (tooth powder, cotton, sanitary pad, soap and detergent soap) in these districts.
• The WASH project support included installation of pit latrine, bathing places, water pumps, provision of water through water tankers and water purification tablets.
• The project targeted overall 80,000 households.

• SRSO with the support of GoS installed 40 filteration plants with a capacity of 5,000 liters per day. Major Activities;

• SRSO and TRDP with the support of UNCEF started a child protection programme in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Kashmore (SRSO) and Jamshoro (TRDP) districts of Sindh.
• The objective of the project is to save the flood affected children from the trauma and hardships caused due to displacements during floods and protect them from abuse, child labor, ignorance and exploitation.
• The philosophy of the project is to make intervention of entertainment, education and provision of basic needs and focus on the safety and security and keep them engaged in recreational and constructive activities.
• The activities of the project include establishment of Child Facilitation Spaces, organizing child protection committees to address the social issues and incidents occurring due to the disastrous situation and creating awareness among the community to protect and nourish the children for a healthy future.
• The project also included distribution of food and non food items like Lanterns, Torches, Battery Cells, Buckets, Cooking pots, Shoes, Empty bags, Parachute bags, Shawls, Recreational kits, mattress, and bed sheets and for the winter season the distribution were made of sweaters, blankets, clothes, socks, and boots all included, among registered children, women and families.

• SRSO, with the support of UN Food and Agriculture Organization has launched CERF: a project aimed at providing emergency assistance for immediate protection of livelihood and food security through provision of critical livestock and agricultural inputs to the flood affected community for two union councils of Tehsil Pano Aqil, District Sukkur.

• Supported  selected Farmers for Livestock, Agriculture and Food (Agri Package: Wheat Seed, DAP, UREA; Vegetable Kit; Livestock Package: Animal Feed, De-Wormers,Plastic Sheet, Rope).

Major Activities;

• SRSO with the support of Helpage International has been working for old age people mainly affected in the flood and who need care and health facilities. The target beneficiaries of the project are old people, particularly women in Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts.
• The relief support included  nutrition kits, personal kits, reading glasses where needed, Hygiene Kits, Mobility Aids (Hearing Aids, Crutches, Toilet Seats Walking Sticks, Wheel Chairs) and cash grants of Rs 15,000 each to 315 beneficiaries along with 2000 winterization kits in Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
• Provided Mosquito Nets and 600 Mospel repellents in Jacobabad, and arranged Eye Camps in Shikarpur and Jacobabad.

Major Activities;

1. SRSO and PPHI provided a mobile medical facility for the flood affectees in order to provide the medical services to the sick, injured and snake bitten and preventive vaccination for different viral, bacterial and other diseases.
2. SRSO & GFATM has worked on Malaria prevention since last one year in District Khairpur and after the flood it has provided 1,750 mosquito nets to the flood affected people and priority was given to families with children younger than 10 years and pregnant women.
3. SRSO, with the support of the Pakistan Software Industry, distributed 1,007 Utensil, 1,733 stitched dresses shoes 1, 152, and two pedestal fans in relief camps at Khairpur district.
4. “The WATAN” Organization supported flood affectees by donating Rs. 8.00 million which were used to distribute the following NFI items: Buckets & mugs Detergent soaps Toilet soap Towels & C. Roll, Cooking pots, Tea pots, Flour Mixing pot, wooden spoon, Plates ,Steel glasses, Clothes (1000 male 500 female).
5. OMV Pakistan joined the hands with SRSO to help out the flood affected people in Khairpur and Sukkur. Through this partnership SRSO provided food to 2,000 families which covers around 14,000 people. OMV also provided 60 tents (shelter) for 500 people. Furthermore, the organization has established an employee contributed fund for flood affectees and an amount of Rs. 700,000 was spent on special feeding requirements of the children of the affected families.
6. SRSO distributed wheel chairs and white sticks to the 11 disabled flood affectees of District Khairpur with the support of Sindh Disability Forum.
7. Provided health support to 754 patients through the UCBPRP Sehat Salamat Package, Government of Sindh and through SRSO’s pool account.
8. Distributed Food and Non food items to more than 400 flood affected families in Sukkur donated by Al Huda Welfare Centre, Germany.
9. SRSO through its senior female staff ran a “the clean camp campaign” in camps of Sukkur city accommodating 546 IDPs where cleaning material including Finis, spray pumps, nail cutters and combs were provided and hygiene sessions were conducted to make the camp environment conducive and free of diseases.
10. SRSO distributed 10,000 stitched clothes in the flood affected families in Khairpur, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Jacobabad and Larkana district. These clothes were stitched by the community members trained in the vocational centers established under GoS Union Council Based Poverty Reduction Program.
